Faith Focus on October 2: An Emergency Simulation with the Red Cross

For Faith Focus on October 2, representatives from the Red Cross will come and do an "emergency simulation," teaching us how to respond individually and collectively to disasters so that we can serve our community well when called. Eat dinner with us at 5:30 and stay for the program from 6 to 7 pm! Children's activities provided.

Fall Break at FPC: October 14-18

The Learning Center, Preschool, Seasons, church events, and pickleball will take off for Fall Break on October 14-18. Enjoy some rest and relaxation!  Note that all choir practices and Faith Focus are also canceled. We will still have Mon. yoga and Wed. Bible Study.

Pickleball at FPC - Updated Times for the Fall

Pickleball players, the Friday open-play time has been taken off the calendar, but you can still contact us and schedule the AOC. The gym will continue to be open for pickleball on Wednesdays from 3 to 5 pm. We have balls and four paddles for those who do not have their own equipment. Please email fpc.pickleball@gmail.com to reserve courts. Donations accepted.

The next Game Night for all ages is at Paul Cox's home on Monday, October 14. Bring your favorite game or just show up from 7 to 8:30 pm!

Committee Spotlights: Service and Missions, Christian Education, and the Education Board

At our Session meetings each month, different committees report to the Session about what they accomplished the previous year and some goals for the upcoming year.  We also share our areas of greatest need.  Here are the latest committees to report! Service and Missions Committee Here are some of the activities we are involved in: -Minute for Missions: We schedule these to let the congregation know how our resources are being used for God’s work. -Service/Irene Center for Hope: We have been making appointments to help people with utility bills, transportation, medication, and a place to stay during extreme temperatures. -Food Baskets: We fill boxes of food for families from Liberty Elementary School and the Crisis Hotline. -Haiti: We continue our support with teacher’s salaries and support for Cindy Correll who helps coordinate the Haiti Mission. -Rwanda: We have been working with a hospital in Rwanda to supply meals for the patients. -FUEL: We he...

The Photography Essentials Workshop for Middle and High School Students

The Photography Essentials Workshop will introduce middle and high school students to light, vantage point, depth of field, time, and composition. Develop camera skills and find your voice! Hand-Coloring Black and White Photography Workshop with Susan Bryant

FPC Young Adults Going to Clarksville Oktoberfest on September 29

The young adults at FPC are invited to go as a group to the Clarksville Oktoberfest on Sunday, Sept. 29 at Beachaven Winery (1100 Dunlop Ln). Free admission, live polka band, German foods, wines and beers, games, dancing, and activities for the whole family. Talk to Hannah Cruse for more details.

4th Annual Halloween Hunt Coming to FPC on October 26

We are bringing back our "Halloween Hunt" for the 4th year! Ever seen the hidden nooks and crannies of our 19th-century building in the dark? Come out on October 26 from ***6:00-7:30 pm*** for a family scavenger hunt, dressing up in costumes (no face masks please), treats and bag decoration, and spooky organ music. Follows Fright on Franklin events from 3 to 6 pm. This is a perfect alternative to the craziness of Halloween night for families and children!

World Communion Sunday Celebration with Song and Scripture

For World Communion Sunday on Oct. 6, we will celebrate our unity through song and Scripture. You can expect to sing some old standards as well as new-to-us songs from other cultures. You may even hear some of the liturgy read in other languages. We cannot wait to hear the sound of FPC echoing through the sanctuary!

Elder Nominating Has Begun: Seeking Strong, Faithful Leaders

“Choose from among you those who are full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom…” (Acts 6:3) The Elder Nominating Committee will begin meeting in early September to choose 5 persons to nominate to the congregation for election as Ruling Elders at our Annual Congregational Meeting on October 27. (The nominations include 4 elders for a three-year term [2025-2027] and 1 youth elder for a one-year term [2025].) Our Elder Nominating Committee  for 2024-2025 will be chaired by Elder Todd Harvey (Session, Class of 2024). Members of the committee also include Elder Patty Orr (Session, Class of 2025; Chair-elect for 2025-2026), James McNiel (Youth Elder), and at-large members Sam Mills, Craig Schryver, Jane Wallace, Charene Watson, and Issac Wright.   Please consider submitting one of the elder nominating forms by September 15.  Before you submit a name to Todd Harvey (or in a sealed envelope to the church off...
