Committee Spotlight in May!
At our Session meetings each month, different committees report to the Session about what they accomplished the previous year and some goals for the upcoming year. We also share our areas of greatest need. Each month, we are going to highlight those committees so that the congregation will know what our committees are up to!
Professional Staff Committee
Goal: to make sure our church has an excellent staff and to provide support to them in any way possible.
This committee oversees yearly job performance reviews for our staff and discusses salaries and pay for our employees.
Property Committee
Mission Statement: to provide for the care and maintenance of the church’s buildings including the sanctuary, education building, and the AOC.
In 2023, the committee had the louvers in the steeple measured and manufactured. Routine maintenance was done, Ring cameras were installed at the AOC, and an outside light was added at the elevator/handicap entrance. They also had the main drain lines for the building replaced. Donations allowed them to resurface the preschool playground.
This year, the louvers will be installed and some masonry around them repaired. The downspout on the steeple will be repaired. Volunteers from Publix have cleaned the patio outside the fellowship hall and seating has been added.
Finance Committee
Goal: to make sure the church has enough money to operate with its current budget.
They are currently working on the 2024-2025 budget.
Property Acquisition Committee
Mission Statement: to be aware of properties that could affect the physical location of FPC and to make recommendations to the session/congregation.
Past conversations of this committee have included the church parking lot and properties that are left to the church in peoples' wills.
Investment Advisory Committee
Mission Statement: to annually recommend cash distributions to the Session from the Plummer Trust, the Memorial Fund, and the Gracey Fund.
Goal: to make sure the recipients receive as much money as possible while at the same time providing stability in the principle of the funds so that there will be growth in the long term.
We welcome congregation members to remember the church in their wills and trusts and to give memorials for friends and family members to the church.
