"Blue Christmas" Service & Resources for "Overcoming the Blues"
With the holidays fast approaching, we are aware that these next several weeks can be difficult for some individuals and families...
Blue is a reminder that some people experience heartache and pain, even at Christmas. The Christmas season can be a time of deep sadness and loneliness for those who feel cut off from the feeling of joy and happiness typically associated with the holidays. This feeling of loss may result from the death of a loved one, divorce, illness, job loss, or any of a number of other reasons. During our "Blue Christmas" service on December 11, we will offer anointing with the sign of the cross and prayers for healing and wholeness. For each person who comes forward--either on their own account or to request prayer for someone else--we will offer prayers for a joy that surpasses all understanding, a source of comfort that is substantial enough to sustain us during the most difficult times of life.
For the whole congregation, FPC is also making literature available on various topics such as "Overcoming the 'Blues' at Christmastime", "Getting through the Holidays When You’ve Lost a Loved One", etc. These are available on the table outside the Chapel if you would like to take one or more free of charge.
As with any time of the year, please feel free to reach out to one of our pastors if you need assistance. And, if you desire prayer for a specific need, you are welcome at any time of the year to let the office know by phone or email so that we can include your petitions in our prayers on Sunday.
