Image
Volunteers are needed to help with our Cooling Center in the AOC during the month of July!  We are collaborating with the City of Clarksville, United Way, YAI Paks, Urban Ministries, and the Crisis Call Line to provide a cool place for people who do not have an air-conditioned home when temperatures are above 90. We will be open seven days a week, 1:00-8:00 PM (Sundays 1:00-6:00). On Wednesdays, folks have a chance to take showers. We could use toiletries, snacks, ice, paper towels, and Tylenol. The City and United Way are providing one paid staff person, but we need extra help... If you are available for an hour or two (or more), please contact Ann Waddle. Thank you for supporting our outreach programs!

They were pessimistic about the prospects for justice and peace in a world bristling with sophisticated weapons systems and nuclear devices. They were living huddled, worried, defensive lives. I wanted to shout in objection: Don't live this way! You are Christians! Our lives can be a growth into freedom instead of a withdrawal into anxious wariness....
