Volunteer at the Liberty Elementary Book Fair

The Liberty Elementary Book Fair is coming up on September 23 - 30th! The school needs help setting up the fair on Thursday, Sept. 22. This is a big job, but it shouldn't take too long if lots of people chip in. The process will begin around 3:00 p.m.    They also need volunteers during the fair, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Sept. 23 -Sept. 30. Volunteers would help students select the items they want and possibly work the registers. The fair will then get packed up at 3:00 on Friday, Sept. 30.  Are you available to assist Liberty Elementary on any of these days during their Book Fair? Email BOTH librarian Melinda Riggins at  Melinda.Riggins@cmcss.net AND the church office at fpcclarksville@gmail.com.

"Going Local" Update: Land Has Been Purchased for Two New Homes

The Service and Missions Committee is thrilled to announce a lot of progress on our new mission, " Going Local" ! We have partnered with Mosaic Church to help provide affordable housing for single-parent families and senior citizens in the Clarksville area. The Going Local Initiative primarily focuses on rehabilitation of single-family housing and construction of multi-family housing. The city of Clarksville has provided a piece of property on Richardson Street where two houses can be built. The house buyers will be single parents that would not qualify for typical mortgages. Working with  Legends Bank, the buyers will work to improve their credit and to budget their funds. The City Council recently finalized the transfer of the land, and the old house there has been  demolished. Funding for this first project is all through grants from the city.  As we proceed beyond this project, we will  use funds from the house sales to purchase additional land and build more homes for
