There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love. We love because he first loved us. -1 John 4:18–19 We live in anxious and fearful times, but the Scriptures are clear that God wants us to live abundant lives, without fear.  From the command in Joshua 1:9 to take courage (Jimmy Terry's favorite verse), to the assurance of the 23rd Psalm (I will fear no evil; also Psalm 27:1, 34:4-8, 46:1-3, 56:3-4, etc.), and the many commands throughout the Bible to "Fear Not!"--we can find the courage we need to face these uncertain times in the assurance we have of God's love. For Faith Focus on October 2, representatives from the Red Cross will come and do an "emergency simulation," teaching us how to respond individually and collectively to disasters so that we can serve our community well when called. Eat dinner with us at 5:30 and stay for the program from 6 to 7 pm! Children's activities provided.

Time to start reading for Literary Roundtable! Come and discuss "The Leftovers" by Tom Perrotta with APSU Prof. Joey Grisham and Pastor Greg on Tuesday, October 29 from 6:30 to 8 pm at Hudubam Booktraders.

Everyone will be singing your favorite hymns for the Faith Focus program on October 9! Take the survey to suggest a hymn and let us know if you’d like to share a brief memory about it at Faith Focus. The Learning Center, Preschool, Seasons, church events, and pickleball will take off for Fall Break on October 14-18. Enjoy some rest and relaxation!  Note that all choir practices and Faith Focus are also canceled. We will still have Mon. yoga and Wed. Bible Study.

Pickleball players, the Friday open-play time has been taken off the calendar, but you can still contact us and schedule the AOC. The gym will continue to be open for pickleball on Wednesdays from 3 to 5 pm. We have balls and four paddles for those who do not have their own equipment. The next Game Night for all ages is at Paul Cox's home on Monday, October 14. Bring your favorite game or just show up from 7 to 8:30 pm!
