Shower Love Seeks Volunteers to Provide Free Haircuts to the Homeless

Image
Shower Love--a program providing free showers and haircuts to the homeless--is held on the fourth Sunday of each month from 2:00-4:00 pm. We operate from the Loaves & Fishes building, 825 Crossland Avenue. We need socks, insect repellent, sunscreen, and razors! We also need volunteers, including barbers and hairdressers who will provide free haircuts. Contact Margaret Adames or Ann Waddle if you have any questions.

Respite Program "Seasons" Welcomes New Staff this Summer

Image
" Seasons" has brought on more staff this summer! Welcome our new Director, Rebecca Spencer (pictured first)--who has the crew moving, dancing, painting, and swimming already--as well as our new aide, Brookelynn Aanerud (pictured second). This program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities provides an opportunity for fun socializing and community involvement. Volunteers are invited to join in on field trips, art with Ola, and music with Mary Beth. And we are always working on some art project for all you artists.  Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00-2:00 in the AOC. Spread the word!

Service Committee Will Be Back in August (Volunteers Welcome!)

Image
FPC's Service Committee is closed during the month of July, but we'll be back in August!  This group provides financial assistance for utility bills, transportation, and prescriptions for those in need. If you are interested in helping when we re-open in August, contact Sara Little or Ann Waddle. We can use help with bookkeeping, reception, and interviewing clients. We operate from Loaves & Fishes on Mondays, 1:00-2:30.

AOC Turned into a Cooling Center for Clarksville (We Need Volunteers!)

Image
Volunteers are needed to help with our Cooling Center in the AOC during the month of July!  We are collaborating with the City of Clarksville, United Way, YAI Paks, Urban Ministries, and the Crisis Call Line to provide a cool place for people who do not have an air-conditioned home when temperatures are above 90. We will be open seven days a week, 1:00-8:00 PM (Sundays 1:00-6:00). On Wednesdays, folks have a chance to take showers. We could use toiletries, snacks, ice, paper towels, and Tylenol. The City and United Way are providing one paid staff person, but we need extra help... If you are available for an hour or two (or more), please contact Ann Waddle. Thank you for supporting our outreach programs!
