  Join us for Open Studio on Saturday, January 27 from 2 to 4 pm at Makers' Corner (215 Foster St.). This is a time set aside for people to work on projects begun in classes or at home. Bring any project you are working on, knitting, painting, etc. and work in fellowship with others.

Art Walk in February Featuring Gregory Player

For more than 20 years, Gregory Player, a self-taught impressionist and Los Angeles native, has produced custom designs for art enthusiasts across the United States. In 1998, Gregory founded Creative IV Life Designs to share his unique style. His passion is to create art that captures the authentic essence of the subject, a piece that speaks to the individual each time it is viewed.

Literary Roundtable: Race and Passing in "The Vanishing Half" and "Antiracist Baby"

This month, we will have a discussion about race and passing as related to the books The Vanishing Half (Brit Bennett) and Antiracist Baby (Ibram X Kendi). Join us at Hudubam Booktraders at 110 Franklin Street on Thursday, February 15 at 6:30 pm. Some copies of the books are available to borrow on the welcome table outside of the church office.  Hosts: Joanna Grisham is an instructor in the Department of Languages & Literature at APSU. Joey holds an MFA in creative writing from Georgia College. She was named a finalist for the 2021-2022 Very Short Fiction Contest at the Tennessee Williams & New Orleans Literary Festival and a finalist for the 2021 Ember Chasm Review Flash Fiction Contest. January Art Walk Featuring Students from Chapel Hill Christian Academy

Art Walk on Thursday, January 4 will feature work by students from Chapel Hill Christian Academy Art Club! Come out to the chapel from 5 to 8 pm. CHCA Art Club features artists who are in 4th or 5th grade and middle school, 6th-8th grade. These artists have had the opportunity to attend one or more art sessions taught by CHCA's Lower School Art Teacher, Heather Sugg, or Upper School Art Teacher, Kristi Huang. During the fall sessions, the focus was nature inspired and lions, CHCA's mascot, themes. Their artwork covered a variety of media such as natural object collage, scrapbook paper collage, printing, and acrylic painting. Cozy Fast Knitted Mittens Workshops in January at Makers' Corner

In these classes taught by Sara Coelho-Robinson, we will learn to follow an easy pattern for cozy and fast knitted mittens! As a group we will learn how to knit using the "magic loop" method, and different techniques such as a long tail cast on, ribbing, increases, and decreases. In two classes you will be able to start and finish one mitten and then able to knit the second mitten at home. This class is ideal for adventurous beginners and those familiar with the most common stitches. Part 1 on Jan. 13    Part 2 on Jan. 20 ***Please purchase tickets for both days.*** If you cannot attend a session, Sara can assist you at Open Studio from 2 to 4 pm at Makers' Corner on January 27. Materials students are required to get: Needles: US11 circular needles w/ 24" to 32" cable (knitters choice). Suggested brands are Knit Picks, Knitpro Smartsix, ChiaoGoo, or Clover. Hand-Coloring Black and White Photography Workshop on Dec. 16

This class will introduce participants to the creative technique of adding hand applied color to black and white digital photographs. Using a variety of media, participants will create one-of-a-kind images that transform into personal expressions. This workshop will be both for returning students who took the HC Workshop with me on 9/9 AND new students who are new to this process. REGISTER HERE Retired APSU art professor Susan Bryant will introduce participants to the creative possibilities available with the combination black and white photographs with hand-applied color. Using a variety of color media, participants will create one-of-a-kind images that transform the prints into personal expressions! All levels of experience are welcome. Supplies will be provided (the coloring material; pan pastels and PrismaColor pencils) but you may bring your own pencils (PrismaColor recommended). A Service of Lessons and Carols Featuring Harp, Flute, and Cello at FPC

Join us for a Service of  Lessons and Carols , where we watch and wait for the birth of Christ, on  Sunday, December 10 at 4:00 p.m. The prelude, played by our Bell Choir, will begin about 10 minutes early. Look forward to choral anthems and hymns with harp, flute, and cello! Dinner will follow at 5:30 or right after the service in Fellowship Hall.

A rare atmospheric phenomenon allows a New York City firefighter to communicate with his son 30 years in the future via HAM radio. The son uses this opportunity to warn the father of his impending death in a warehouse fire, and manages to save his life.
