FPC to Host *Songwriting Workshop* with Worship Leaders Kenny and Claire in August

Youth and adults in Clarksville are invited to write and perform a song together at FPC with worship leaders Kenny and Claire! WORKSHOP OBJECTIVE: Our objective during this workshop is to a) learn basic songwriting skills, b) cowrite at least one worship song--both music and lyrics--and c) perform the music during worship on Sunday with the assistance of FPC musicians! Summertime Sermon Series 2022: Gospel of Freedom

Reading Galatians is like entering a drama as the curtain is rising on the third act! The high drama is all about FREEDOM! On Juneteenth we kick off a summertime sermon series on true freedom by reading Paul's Letter to the Galatians. Using J. Louis Martyn's magisterial 600-page commentary on the book, we will enter into the world of the ancient readers of the letter; using Eugene H. Peterson's book, "Traveling Light," we will ask what this letter says to the "unfree" of our day.  Peterson, who was writing in the 1980's, says:  "They were overcome with anxieties in the face of rising inflation. They were pessimistic about the prospects for justice and peace in a world bristling with sophisticated weapons systems and nuclear devices. They were living huddled, worried, defensive lives. I wanted to shout in objection: Don't live this way! You are Christians! Our lives can be a growth into freedom instead of a withdrawal into anxious wariness.&q

Juneteenth Block Party and Brunch to Celebrate Freedom Day in Clarksville

In celebration of Freedom Day and the incredible, prospering Black community in Clarksville, TN BLK Clarksville presents Clarksville Juneteenth Weekend.  Clarksville Juneteenth Weekend features two major events jam-packed with culture, art, black-owned businesses, and serious vibes. The weekend starts Saturday, June 18 with our annual Clarksville Juneteenth Block Party. Located in the heart of Downtown Clarksville, our block party features over 60 black-owned businesses and organizations, food trucks, live performances, a kid zone, and more. Bring your family and your friends for a celebration they won’t want to miss. More details here.
